Brandy Carney
Brandy Carney currently serves as the Cuyahoga County Public Safety & Justice Chief, a position she began in July 2018. As Chief, her responsibility includes the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office including Corrections, the Medical Examiners Office, Clerk of Courts, Consumer Affairs and, the department she previously directed, Public Safety and Justice Services (PSJS).
PSJS is made up of five divisions which include the County 911 Dispatch Center (CECOMS), Office of Emergency Management, Grants and Fiscal, Witness Victim Service Center and Administration/Project Management.
Additionally, the County's role within the Northeast Ohio Regional Fusion Center (NEORFC) falls under PSJS.
The agencies under Ms. Carney's total responsibility collectively has over 1500 employees, more than 30 Collective Bargaining Units, and a budget of over 150 Million dollars.
Additionally, she represents the County and County Executive in public safety and justice key projects including consolidation of services, bail and bond reform, the building of a new justice center for the County, and other large and strategic initiatives.
Previously she led efforts throughout the County such as dispatch consolidations, Text to 911 countywide, information sharing between all law enforcement agencies, high risk domestic violence standardization of services and protocols and emergency operations center build out and response during disasters or large events including the Republican National Convention.
She also represents the County on several Boards and Committees.
Ms. Carney graduated Cum Laude from Cleveland State University's college of Urban Affairs.
