Pediatric Trauma
In this video, Dr. Michael Dingeldein, Pediatric Trauma Medical and Surgical Director for Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital spends an hour discussing Pediatric Trauma for pre-hospital and emergency department medical staff. Dr. Dingeldein also serves as the Pediatric Medical Director for the Northern Ohio Trauma System and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery with Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.
Dr. Dingeldein obtained his B.S. in Biology from the University of Cincinnati and completed Medical School at The Ohio State University. He moved on to complete his surgical residency at Rush University and Cook County Hospital in Chicago Illinois. With his interest in Pediatric Surgery, he completed a Fellowship at Children's Memorial Hospital at Northwestern University in Chicago and continued his Fellowship at The Children's Hospital at Oklahoma University in Oklahoma City. We are pleased to have Dr. Dingeldein serving the needs of children in our region and supporting the Northern Ohio Trauma System as Pediatric Medical Director.
Sepsis
In this video, Dr. Andrew Garlisi, EMS Medical Director with University Hospitals of Cleveland spends an hour discussing the physiology of sepsis and the challenges for pre-hospital and emergency department medical staff.
Dr. Garlisi obtained his B.S.in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Ohio Dominican University. He attended the Toledo University Medical School, graduating in the top 10% of the class. He then went to the University of South Florida College of Medicine to complete his Internal Medicine residency. Dr. Garlisi continued his passion for learning as he completed his Masters in Public Health at Case Western Reserve followed by a Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University. He is a huge advocate for pre-hospital and emergency department personnel and has supported the Northern Ohio Trauma System through his participation in our symposium and other educational events.
Geriatric Trauma
In this video, Tod Baker, our past EMS Coordinator reviews from an EMS perspective some of the many considerations when managing a geriatric trauma patient. The presentation reviews some relevant data relating to the incidence both nationally and locally as well as physiological changes that occur with the aging process that predisposes the elderly to injury.
Tod is a firefighter/Paramedic who has served the northeast Ohio area for more than 30 years and has since retired from being the Fire Chief at the Madison Fire District. His background includes experience in the pre-hospital environment, working with ground and air critical care and in all levels of EMS education.
